In 2019–2020, the staff and students of the Marine Biodiversity Center (MBC) surveyed all storage shelving in two of the ground-floor wet collections storage spaces: Crustacea/Echinoderms and MBC/Polychaetes. All lots on each shelf were counted and the area of each shelf currently covered with specimens was estimated. Coverage estimates could range from 0 (empty shelf) to over 100% (where specimens filled the shelf and were stacked on top of each other).
