The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are charged by various laws both with accommodating maritime commerce, navigation, and fisheries and with managing and protecting the marine resources of the harbors for the people of California. As part of that stewardship, the ports have conducted periodic, comprehensive biological surveys. These specimens are are from the 2018 Port Complex biosurvey.
