Significance
Survey conducted to assess spatial extent of chemical contamination and its effects on fish and sediment in southern California.
Background
Bight 1998 was part of an effort to provide an integrated assessment of the Southern California Bight through regional-scale Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program style stratified random sampling. Each of the major sampling components of the Bight’98 survey was used to characterize the state of the subtidal habitats in San Diego Bay.
Collection Location and Dates
Point Conception, California to United States–Mexico international border. An additional 71 sites between U.S.–Mexico border and Ensenada, Mexico. Summer 1998
