Description: Shell elongate, but broadly oval in shape, and strongly inflated, with two relatively large auricles (ears) on either side of jumbo (beak). Sculpture of fine radial ribs.

Size: 10-15 mm.

Ecology: Epifauna or nestling among byssal threads on firm but soft sediments  from the inner shelf to upper bathyal depths (30-675 m).

Geological range: Middle Pleistocene-Recent (12-0 million years ago).

Geographic distribution: Alaska (57°N) to Baja California Sur, Mexico (22°N). Reported from the Timms Point Silt (Pleistocene, California).
