West Indian fighting conch
Description: Moderately large elongate shell with a flaring outer lip. Color can cream, orange, or salmon-pink. Relatively smooth, but with spines on the body whorl. Shoulder of outer lip turned slightly upwards.
Size: 70-100 mm.
Ecology: Inhabits sandy substrates and seagrass beds in shallow sub tidal to innermost shelf depths (2-15 m).
Geological range: Late Pliocene-Recent (4-0 million years ago).
Geographic distribution: Caribbean, Florida.
