The Malacology Collection at the NHM is world-wide in its scope and world-class in its significance. This website will chronicle the activities of volunteers, news in malacology (the study of molluscs), updates from the staff, and our outreach and citizen science initiatives. Click on the Blog heading of this site to read about recent happenings.

Our mission in Malacology and across the Museum is to inspire wonder and discovery in the natural world and communicate how our planet and life on it changes over time and why this matters. If you are interested in volunteering in Malacology contact the docents and volunteer program or Jann Vendetti, the Twila Bratcher Endowed Chair in Malacological Research: jvendett[at]nhm.org. To inquire about the collection’s holdings, plan a research visit, or request a loan, please contact Collections Manager, Lindsey Groves: lgroves[at]nhm.org.
