Selvage
- (Taxon-specific: Class Ostracoda) In closing apparatus of valve, ridge-like elevation along inner margin; fits into groove (selvage groove) of opposite valve. If margin is simple, selvage represents only ridge; if margin is complex (i.e., inner lamella with duplicature), selvage represents middle or principal ridge. (See also flange, hinge selvage, list).
