Peritrophic membrane

• Chitinous sheath secreted around feces (e.g., some Ostracoda). [Moore and McCormick, 1969]
• Chitinous sheath secreted around feces. [McLaughlin, 1980]
• (Taxon-specific: Order Decapoda) Chitinous membrane, secreted in anterior region of midgut and surrounding feces; considered to protect midgut lining from damage during passage of undigestible material. [Stachowitsch, 1992]
