Abstract |
Penaeopsis (Crustacea, Decapoda, Penaeidae) collected in the south-west Pacifi c by
French expeditions since 1976. Description of a new species.
Th is work is based on collections made in the south-west Pacifi c by IRD (ex
ORSTOM) and the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris. It deals with
four species of Penaeopsis Bate, 1881: P. challengeri de Man, 1911, P. eduardoi
Pérez Farfante, 1977, P. rectacuta (Bate, 1881), and a new species, P. mclaughlinae
n. sp. Depth zones and geographic distributions of the three known species are
revised, especially those of P. challengeri. Penaeopsis mclaughlinae n. sp. is closely
related to P. eduardoi but it is easily distinguished by the more sinuous shape of
the distal part of the ventrolateral lobules of the petasma, and the large rounded
protuberance on the median plate of the thelycum. |
