Plate
- (Taxon-specific: Subclass Cirripedia) In barnacle, one of a number of calcareous elements on outer surface of body. Produced by mantle and with characteristic structure, shape, and sculpture. One generally distinguished five primary plates (single carina and paired scuta and terga) and numerous secondary plates, including single rostrum, subrostrum, subcarina, as well as various lateral plates (lateralia, latera).
