Ossicles
- Small, hard plates and projections of the internal gastric skeleton of decapod crustaceans; serve in part for attachment of muscles that move the foregut. [Bliss, 1982]
- (Taxon-specific: Order Decapoda) One in a complex of rigid, plate-like structures associated with wall of cardiac stomach and, to a lesser extent, with pyloric stomach. Serves as site of attachment of muscles operating gastric mill or gives rise to tooth-like projections. [Stachowitsch, 1992]
