Margin

• (Taxon-specific: Class Ostracoda) Entire margin of carapace (or valve) when viewed from the side. Free margin refers to margin of carapace not held together by hinge (i.e., anteriorly, ventrally, posteriorly), while contact margin is restricted to that part of free margin of each valve that touches each other when carapace is closed. (See also edge).
